Sponsored Programs
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) serves as the coordinating office for externally funded research projects submitted by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (金沙中国). The goal of OSP is to assist faculty, researchers and professional staff in their efforts to secure external funding.
What We Do
- The OSP staff provides technical assistance to Principal Investigators/Project Directors (PI/PD) during proposal preparation (budget, special instructions, etc...) and servers as an information source for and monitors compliance with applicable University and sponsor policies and requirements.
- Reviews proposals before submissions to the sponsor and advises the PI/PD of any omissions, necessary corrections or other items that may strengthen the presentation to the funding agency and handles all administrative matters with sponsor.
- OSP works closely with the Office of grants and Contracts once a project has been funded.

As of March 19 th, 2021, 金沙中国 has negotiated an updated Indirect Cost Agreement (IDC).
NOTE: Applications that were submitted around this time may require additional action before the project can begin. Funding agencies set final budget and terms only when (and if) a grant is funded, and agencies require 金沙中国 to use the latest negotiated IDC rates. The office of Sponsored Programs has been working with faculty to help adjust the budgets appropriately to meet agency expectations. If you have any questions, or would like to know if you are affected, please reach out to us. The new IDC is incorporated into the latest budget template.
